This presentation provides strategies and methods for discovering their stories, whether they served on air crews or in support units. Learn what individual and unit records are available, where to find them, and how to interpret and analyze their content using a variety of contextual resources.

Presenter: KB Barcomb specializes in conducting WWI and WWII research through the lens of family history. A retired Army officer, she focuses on the context of military records so as to more thoroughly and accurately analyze their content. She regularly advises researchers on navigating the legislative, regulatory, and historical complexities found in military records. Her onsite research includes the National Archives, the US Army Heritage & Education Center, the Air Force Historical Research Agency, and multiple state and university archives.  She is the course coordinator of Advanced US Military Records & Research: World War I for the Applied Genealogy Institute and course co-coordinator of WWI: Its Military and Social Aftermath, 1917-1930 for the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburg. She is a member of the Society for Military History and the Association of Professional Genealogists. Her passion for military history comes from her parents, both of whom were WWII veterans.
