Not only a successful researcher, Marlis has approached genealogy with a unique perspective on how technology advances in multimedia applications can enrich our sharing of family history and presents and teaches her ideas and methods, inspiring genealogists – whether beginner, expert, or professional, nationally and internationally.
Marlis is Co-Chair of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) and IAJGS Membership Development Committee responsible for the Southeastern U.S. Region. She is Publications and Technology Outreach Committee Chairs for the Florida State Genealogical Society (FSGS) and Vice President of Programs and Publicity for the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Orlando (JGSGO). Marlis is a member of the National Genealogical Society (NGS), the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS), the Indian River Genealogical Society (IRGS), LitvakSIG, the International Society of Family History Writers and Editors (ISFHWE), and the Genealogical Speakers Guild (GSG).
